An end to end implementation of a data warehouse solution for the Maersk Document Operational Workflow System.

The Maersk Document Operational Workflow System Data mart project is an enhancement to the MDWS application, the main objective to allow flexible reporting on a “light” version of the MDWS database specifically around the areas of performance of the GSC’s (Global Service Centres) or SSC’s (Shared Service Centres), countries, booking agents and users.

Duration:
This project was implemented in 24 months.

Technical:
The solution was presented and implemented as a Business Objects on Microsoft SQL Server solution utilising the following technologies:

    Reporting - Business Objects
    ETL - Microsoft DTS controlled SQL Server procedures and functions
    Database - Microsoft SQL Server
    Environment - Windows Web Server and Database Server

Together with PGWC team members developed an Institute Administration system. Specialised in implementing coding standards, look and feel and the security.

Background: 
The Institute Administration System was developed to administer the government juvenile holding facilities. This system tracks the activities of the clients from the time of admission to the departure. We specialised in the security and look and feel of this application.

The purpose of the technical quality assurance of BP's CCAT system is to provide an indication as to whether the application is production ready.

Project:
The purpose of the technical quality assurance of BP's CCAT system is to provide an indication as to whether the application is production ready.
In addition the CCAT system will also be reviewed against BP standards with specific reference to documentation, design, development, testing and migration readiness.

The quality assurance was performed by Q3, who has many years of software development experience, end to end data warehouse experience and more pertinently experience in developing a solution for BP (Cardex Satellites for externals - CSE).
The process was conducted onsite at BP and consisted of interviewing all parties involved, and physically reviewing the specification documentation as well as a code review of the CCAT modules.

The review as well as the recommendations that followed should be taken in the light of an independent opinion of an experienced systems engineers with the focus of ascertaining whether the application is production ready.

Duration:
The review was completed in one month.

The project has been completed in 5 months. 

Background: 
Exel and BP have entered into an agreement of co-operation regarding the mutual use of the Fuel Master technology currently used by BP. Exel will implement Fuel Master technology at selected sites. Based on this agreement, the BP Exel alliance has landed a portion of the Transnet contract.

The purpose of the UWC BIRS project is to ensure that flexible reporting is possible throughout the UWC operational systems environment.

The purpose of the UWC BIRS project is to ensure that flexible reporting is possible throughout the UWC operational systems environment.

In order to do this the environment must deliver:

  • A UWC data warehouse. Initially this is a 'light' version of the LINK database modeled in such a way that it is suitable for reporting with acceptable performance.
  • A Business Metadata Layer. This layer will house the business logic of the various underlying systems and make flexible reporting a reality.
  • Standard Reports that provide insight into the student administration system.

The provided solution must as far as possible be built using software based on open source principles. As this is an adopted strategy of the university, this is a very important requirement. It is in this light that the UWC BIRS Technical Architecture document endeavours to report on findings and make recommendations in the regard to the best software solution.

Duration:
The architecture component of this solution was completed in 2 months.

Designed, Developed and implemented the Enterprise System Management - Node Monitoring System.

Project: 
Designed, Developed and implemented the Enterprise System Management - Node Monitoring System. Includes the management of network monitoring applications, and providing alarm-processing services, such as SMS delivery of alarm notifications to appropriate contact people.

Duration:
This project was completed in 6 months. 

Background: 
Enterprise System Management - ESM was developed primarily to facilitate Vodacom's network monitoring process. As the Vodacom network grows in size and complexity, the overhead in time and resources for managing supporting data increases. Improved administrative tools were required in order to contain the administrative overhead and avoid errors.

Designed, Developed and implemented the Social Services Security Administration System.

Project:
Designed, Developed and implemented the Social Services Security Administration System. This system was written to move towards a single point of entry to all social services systems.
Also provided a blue print for adopting the Model-View-Controller Architecture Strategy.

Duration:
This project was completed in 3 months, while the architecture services has extended throughout our stay at PGWC. 

Background:
A single sign-on based security system across all the Social Services Information Systems. The security system needed to be administered from one central point and be role based. Also, the menu system needed to be dynamic allowing the administrator to create new menu items in the relevant systems. We designed, developed and implemented this solution.

Designed, Developed and implemented the Emergency Medical Services - Patient Care Record System. This system was written to record patient care details.

Duration:
This project was completed in 4 months. 

Background: 
Emergency Medical Services - Patient Care Records System was developed primarily to facilitate the maintenance of the patient care information. The patient information is captured either in the ambulance or at the facility the patient is taken to. All information about the patient care is recorded, including, patient details, incident details, facility details, trip details, billing details, diagnoses performed, observations, procedures performed as well as the equipment and medication used. We designed, developed and implemented this entire solution.

Programme Management System was developed to manage the administration of the all the social services projects performed by nongovernmental organisations. It is primarily a Operational Workflow system and administers the applications, progress, communication and financial aspect of the programs.

Project: 
Designed, Developed and implemented the File Processor Application. This application was written to securely and safely move all files to and from Shoprites thousands of branches to the head office.

Duration:
This project was completed in 12 months. 

Background:

Every day thousands of files are transferred throughout the Shoprite intranet. The application was developed to monitor specific folders on servers within branches and to compress and split these files and to send it to / receive from the head office. The application was developed to run as a secure and low memory service.  

Technical: 
A small application was developed in java and integrated into websphere queues.
